The Famous Nobodies Forever Almost There

Combine the windmilled powerchords of Townshend, the dynamics of Television and the electric stomp of Young with The Crazy Horse, top the mess with supersonic sophistication of Hüsker dü and the musical knowledge of The Clash and front the lot with a streetwit singer-songwriter attitude-wise not unlike Springsteen or Westerberg, and you pretty much get the idea where this band is coming from: urban adolescent racket. But this is not the sound of a city. This is the sound of a small town ditch. And that is topically global blues.

Ruotomieli started in 1999 in Haukipudas. Since then the band has maintained its position with one foot in the door and one in the gutter. They are almost there, forever. The songs rave and stutter about love, hate, freedom, growing and fucking up, need and excess, the struggle for meaningful existence in a world gone wacko, wet rock and roll dreams and the cost of all of the mentioned -  classic rock and roll topics.

And this is a classic rock band that is very classicly aware of the possibility for a classic failure. A classic situation which they confront with the best possible rock and roll songs they can produce. And the songs are as reckless and stubborn as they are. The band knows there is good change for not making it, so not going all the way – whatever that means – is not even an option.

In a world trying its best to bring down rock and roll and freedom of choice, where radio has had it in the tail pipe, where TV as we knew it does not exit anymore, Ruotomieli – the famous nobodies – believe the their aching, twisting & shouting prescence can come in handy. After all, may their art & self-expression be anything from violent to comforting, all they are trying to do is ease the pains of this mixed-up shook-up world, theirs included.  And fight for the things worth fighting for. Rock for life.
